Cool Places To Stay in Florida: 5 AirBnBs for Color Enthusiasts

There are plenty of cool places to stay in Florida. From the Keys to Orlando, there’s a reason that Florida is one of the top 10 most visited states in the country!

There’s just one small, annoying problem: how do you choose where to go?!

When we pick our travel destinations, we narrow it down to two priorities: fun and comfort. As in, which cities offer the most to do (as a local and a tourist) and where can we stay that’s warm and welcoming?

We’ve found a few colorful Airbnbs in 5 of Florida’s most adventurous cities to help you narrow down your choices!

Top 5 Coolest Places To Stay in Florida

Florida is — huge, to put it mildly. Our friends from the U.K. sometimes underestimate how long it takes to travel from state to state in the U.S.

But Florida is a whole different story.

It can sometimes take 8 hours just to drive out of state! With over  65,758 square miles and 268 cities to choose from, it can be challenging to narrow down exactly where you want to have your base camp.

There’s a lot to do in Florida, so I’ve narrowed down 5 cities and 5 cool places to stay in Florida to make it easy for you to hit all the hot spots in the state!

So, whether you’re coming from out of town or just looking for a staycation in Florida, here are 5 places your friends will want to know all about.

#5: Wizarding Home in Kissimmee

When you’re looking for cool places to stay in Florida, 9 times out of 10, you will get something Harry Potter-themed.

Even if you aren’t a fan of the world of witchcraft and wizardry, there’s no denying these Airbnb owners went above and beyond to provide an experience for their guests.

Just look at those details!

Not only that, but it’s only 30 minutes from Universal Studios, 12 minutes from Kissimmee’s historic downtown, and just a couple of hours' drive to Tampa or the east coast.

#4: Pink Castle in St. Augustine

Don’t tell us you’ve never wanted to stay in a castle before.

Let alone a pink castle!

This is by far one of the coolest places to stay in Florida. Pillars’ Castle in St. Augustine is over 100 years old.

Although we doubt you would want to leave this colorful spot,  there’s plenty to do in this historic city. You can visit the Castillo de San Marcos National (a 17th-century fortress with drawbridges) or the Oldest House Museum Complex, home to Florida’s oldest house!

Bring a couple of friends (it’s pretty pricey) and come during October to experience Florida’s oldest city's infamous ghost tours!

  • 5 beds

  • 4 bedrooms/  4.5 bathrooms

#3: Villa Tropical Breeze in Cape Coral

If you’re looking for something a little more laid back and tropical, this serene Airbnb is just your style.

Live like a Florida local by staying in this colorful Airbnb tucked away in a quiet Cape Coral neighborhood.

But don’t worry— there’s more to do than just lounge by the canal-front pool. This spot is a couple of minutes from Downtown Cape Coral, where the seafood is fresh, and bars are open until 3 a.m.

Airbnb Details:

  • 10 guests

  • 6 beds

  • 5 bedrooms / 3 baths

  • Price: $

Things To Do:

#2: Villa Paradiso in the Florida Keys

Nothing says vacation like the Florida Keys. It’s hard not to find a charming villa brimming with tropical colors, but not all beach stays are worth their salt (pun intended).

There’s a fine line between a good beach stay and a bad one. When staying in the Keys, you want something that isn’t overly decorated in beach-themed trinkets (it takes away from the real beach experience).

You also want something that offers comfort and quiet for those mid-afternoon naps.

Villa Paradiso has all of this and more. On top of its private pool oasis, the description says this stay is “an easy bike ride to Duval Street and even closer to the Casa Marina area.”

Airbnb Details:

  • 6 guests

  • 4 beds

  • 3 bedrooms / 3 baths

  • Price: $$$

Things To Do:

  • Duval Street

  • Key West Historic District

  • Casa Marina

#1: Breeze Bungalow in St. Petersburg

If you’re still looking for cool places to stay in Florida, let us tell you a secret:

St. Pete is like your young, cool aunt that takes you out for ice cream, buys you clothes, and lets you do whatever you want.

Downtown St. Pete is a walkable stretch of paradise buzzing with friendly faces and places to eat.

The Breeze Bungalow started as our staycation home in Florida, but we didn’t think keeping the place to ourselves was fair.

So, Kelly put her Art Deco skills to the test and transformed this place into a colorful, maximalist home away from home. We love hosting couples, families, and remote workers.

It’s stacked with all your vacay necessities, and we even put together a St. Pete itinerary for you!
